A stack of bills lies next to a broken legacy, a blown out candle, a trip gone cold
Bombs fall from the skies, children cry, with every bang a story dies
A woman robbed, you see her sob, her groceries fell, this life is hell
Shootings are around us, just watch the channel news.,
I will later, I’ll watch on YouTube, more than 1,000,000 views
Let’s watch the dogs fight
Let’s slap that bitch right
I hear the screams of a shattered dream, the lights are on
I’ll keep walking though, I have no time
A man laid on the ground, he can be saved
Will nobody help him, stand up be brave
I am the king of me, I am invincible
It matters not what’s done to others, it goes against my principle
I blindly go, the forward path, my eyes are covered black
with the big black burqa that covers my body , but especially my eyes
no turning back
I like my ignorance, I wear it proud
to move beyond would be too loud
of a noise of reality, I can’t stand the sound
Let me be numb of all suffering and helplessness and pain
It’s none of my business, I’ll say it again
they’re just other humans, they don’t benefit me none
We are bornĀ and we die with each setting sun
So I’ll keep on living, this life like a horse
my invisible master will take me on course
for now I’ll keep walking, there’s nothing to see
Because the big, black burqa shadows me
Beautifully written… But it was so painful to read it because I can relate… because I also drape myself in this black burqa like so many other beings… I feel guilty!
I understand that sometimes we just don’t have all the information. But I have witnessed such blatant apathy that it really makes me question what society values in 2013.
